75 Memorial Flames Exhibition

Cowshed has partnered with the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust to bring their unique 75 Memorial Flames exhibition to Wales.

In commemoration of the landmark 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, 300 groups from across the UK created a memorial flame including schools, community groups, Holocaust survivors, refugees, prisons, galleries, businesses, charities and faith organisations.

75 flames were selected to form the exhibition and eight were created by groups from Wales.

The exclusive launch event took place on Monday 2 March and speeches were made by the First Minister Mark Drakeford, Olivia Marks-Woldman, CEO of HMD Trust and Deputy Governor Brian Ward from HMP Cardiff, whose art class created one of the flames.

Seven of the eight groups from Wales attended the event along with Renate Collins BEM, Holocaust Survivor, the Lord Mayor of Cardiff, Dan D’Ath, Equalities and Diversity Officer at HMP Cardiff, Marc Twigg and numerous other high-profile guests from public life in Wales and beyond.

The exhibition is open to the public at 18 The Hayes, Cardiff between 3-15 March 2020. Go and take a look!
